Ideally every shot we take would be perfectly exposed and in focus. However there are times when the light simply won't allow for the 1/500th shutter speed that we need to freeze the action, esp. given the Lx-2's limited ISO performance.

This was the case with the shark. It was behind curved 6cm glass and moving fast. Focus was impossible. Light was low. It was shot wide open at f2.8 on ISO 400 but still I could only get a fifth of a second. So I panned the camera a little as it went by. The framing could be better.

It works.

It's not sharp.

But it works.

I like

I like a lot about this photo. The black and white noise look like film grain. The angle shows the fierceness of the shark and the out of focus blur and movement blur add to that. It looks as if the shark was coming for you and you were trying to get away, but still had to get that shot!
